Vehicles

Barlow Jeep School courses are available for many different types of 4-wheel-drives. We group similar vehicles and driver experience together for the most effective courses possible. Some group classes may not be appropriate for all vehicles. See the courses page for more details.

The main requirement for the course is that participating vehicles are equipped with low-range 4-wheel-drive, or “4L”.  All-wheel-drive, “AWD”, or “Quadradrive” vehicles are typically inappropriate for aggressive off-pavement situations.

Please do not hesitate to call to talk to an instructor about what course may be right for you and your vehicle.

No special equipment is required for the basic courses, other than we advise participants to have a good working jack and spare tire on their vehicle. Basic vehicle preparation and recommended equipment is covered during the course. To see a list of equipment Barlow Jeep School recommends for off-highway excursions, click here. (Again, this equipment is not required for the course—this list is provided here for review and education only.)

Barlow Jeep School will select a trail appropriate for the vehicles in the group depending on several factors: tire size and tread, wheelbase, clearance, driver experience, and current weather and trail conditions.
